Pigeon Jewelry

Postby johnnyksspeedshop » Sun Jul 17, 2011 5:39 pm

Hello,
I have seen jewelry that resembles earings being worn on dewlaps and in some of the videos in the "war breeds" sections. Can some enlighten me on this subject. How is the jewelry attached? Are they specifically made for pigeons, or earings for humans put on the birds? About how many USD (United States Dollars) are each worth? Obviously they are put on for beauty, but are they used for anything else specific, such as only hens? Any other relevant info.
Thanks,
Johnny K

Hi Johnny,
The earrings are made for pigens by hand and are attached to the birds very similarly to how it is done with people.
Basically it goes through the skin right by the ear.
Both males and females get it but since in a war coop there are only 2 to 4 females and upto couple of hundred males most of the birds that get the earrings are males.
I am not sure is there is someone in US that makes the rings.
I got a few for collection purposes a few years ago out of Turkey but couldn't find any here.
Few years back there was someone from NY area advertising them online but I don't have any info on who it is.
